About MakeRoutes

MakeRoutes is built by an independent developer in Spain. No investors, no growth team, no ad department — a tool that exists because its maker needed it, kept free because the everyday version of this problem should not cost money.

Why it exists

MakeRoutes exists to do the one thing Google Maps will not: work out the best order to visit several stops, instead of driving them in the order you typed them. It started with an ordinary annoyance — several errands in one trip, and Google Maps insisting on that typed order. Reordering ten stops by hand, watching the total time, trying another arrangement is a computer's job, so the computer got the job.

Handing the finished route back to Google Maps, rather than navigating itself, is deliberate. MakeRoutes does not try to replace your navigation app; it does the one step your navigation app refuses to do, then gets out of the way.

The principles it runs on

Genuinely free. No ads, no premium tier for the core job, no card. If that ever changes, it will say so plainly — no dark patterns.
No accounts. You should not need to identify yourself to order a few errands. Open it, use it, close it.
Your routes are saved on your device. Stops live in your browser or app storage. They are copied to our server only if you choose to sign in, which exists for one purpose: syncing your routes between your own devices. Location is read only when you tap "Use my location". The privacy policy sets out both cases.
Spain-first address search. Spanish addresses are looked up in CartoCiudad — the official address dataset of Spain's Instituto Geográfico Nacional — before falling back to OpenStreetMap Nominatim. That order is what resolves portal numbers and street names repeated across municipalities, the two cases a generic international geocoder most often gets wrong in Spain. Maps and routing work worldwide.
Built on open data. OpenStreetMap for the map, the OSRM routing engine for the driving times. Standing on generous shoulders, credited on every screen.

What it deliberately is not

MakeRoutes is not fleet software. There is no proof of delivery, no driver management, and routes cap at 11 stops. If your work needs those things, the honest comparison names the tools that do them well.
